1.- Why is it convenient to become a SOMEMMA member?
First, you will legally belong to the oldest and most important Civil Association on marine mammals in Mexico. Also, as a member you can participate having voice and vote in the decisions of the association. Members that have paid their fee on time, are eligible for special prices for the events organized by SOMEMMA (conferences, meetings, workshops, courses, etc.), they have access to special sections on the SOMEMMA web page, and get a printed copy of the scientific publication
LAJAM.

 

2.- Why should I register now and not in Xalapa?
It is cheaper to register in advance and you also save time. Pre-registered queues will move faster.

 

3.- How can I register for the reunion?
Pre-registrations may be accomplished on-line through the
Reunion web page.

 

4.- How do I pay?
Payment instructions are detailed on the
registration page.

 

5.- How do I know that my registration has been completed?
Once your payment has been processed, you will get a confirmation e-mail to the address specified in the registration form.

 

6.- I was a member in 2009, can I go to the Reunion as a member?
No, we are sorry. To get the membership benefits you must be a member in 2010. To do so, you must pay the membership prior to the registration for the 2010 Reunion.

 

7.-Can I bring my spouse/life partner to the Reunion?
Of course. For the Ice-breaker and closing banquette just purchase extra tickets. For the Reunion, he/she must register as any other participant. Tickets may be purchased during the registration process (you may say so in the registration form) or during the Reunion at the designated space.

 

8.- Are there deadlines?
There will always be a special section within the web page to bring you all the information on important dates and news that you will need to prepare for the reunion.

 

9.- What happens if I cancel?
If you cancel by April 9th 2010, you will get full refund and a charge of $15 U.S. dollars  due to administration costs. By April 21st there will be a 50% charge, and no refunds will be made after that date. Cancelations must be addressed to

10.- May I attend only to part of the Reunion?
Of course, but you will have to pay full registration costs.

 

11.- What do I get for my money?
Your fee includes: 1 Ice-breaker ticket, 1 Reunion package with the digital version and the actual abstract book, and the accepted posters, admission to all oral and poster sessions, to the video night, and coffee breaks. Also, your badge will get you special discounts on City hotels and restaurants.

 

12.- Why is this an eco-friendly event?
It is our responsibility to minimize the impact of our actions into the environment. Our Reunion will be eco-friendly so it ensures that all aspects of the event (location, food services, transportation, and material supplies) are purchased on the basis of pollution prevention to reduce the impact to the environment.

 

13.- How is the weather in Xalapa?

The weather in Xalapa is tempered and humid. Average temperature is 18°C (64°F), the max is 30.2°C (86°F) and the min is 10.4°C (50°F). Average temperatures in May, are 17-26°C (63-79°F) with a mean precipitation of 333 mm (13.11 inches). It is recommend to dress casual, and bring a sweater or light jacket to wear over night.
