ICEBREAKER
This event will be held the first day of the meeting (May 2nd, 2010) after the registration. The goal of this event is that all the attendees meet each other in informal and relaxed chats. Time and place of this event will be announced shortly.

PRE-MEETING COURSES AND WORKSHOPS
The next courses and Workshops will be offered previous the XXXII International Meeting for the Study of Marine Mammals, organized by the Mexican Society of Marine Mastozoology, and will be held in Xalapa, Veracruz on May 1st and 2nd 2010.
PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST
GUIDELINES
1. Participation is open to all those interested in the study of marine mammals and are registered to the XXXII International Meeting for the Study of Marine Mammals (SOMEMMA 2010).
2. Contestants could send maximum three of their own pictures. These pictures must be original, inedited, not published before or exhibited previously.
3. Images may be black/white or colored.
* The pictures will be received in digital format (size US Letter 11x8.5 inches, at 300 dpi resolution).
4. For each picture, technical information should be presented with the following information:
Author's name
Age
Adress
Telephone
E-mail
Title of the picture, including genus and species of the photographed animal(s)
Date and place where the picture was taken
5. The pictures received until March 31, 2010.
6. The pictures should be sent in CD, DVD or USB memory (the latest will be returned), in a closed envelope to the following address:

7. Participants accept the contest rules and therefore are responsible of the veracity of the data presented about the images.
8. The judges will be recognized experts in science and/or photography.
9. Judges will take into account the technical quality, technological-scientific content and visual impact.
10. The winner will be selected by the judges and their fail will be definitive and unquestionable.
11. Results will be published during the closing dinner of the XXXII International Meeting for the Study of Marine Mammals. Besides, an electronic presentation of all images will be presented during the ceremony.
12. All submitted images be property of the SOMEMMA image bank, therefore, the Society could use them freely; however, the author’s name will be cited whenever possible.
13. Aspects not covered within this guidelines will be resolved by the judges and the organizing committee.
14. There will be only one winner and the prize will be a mini Lap-Top. All participants will get a certificate of participation. The contest can be declared void depending on the number of participants and the quality of the material.

VIDEO NIGHT
To all those interested in submitting audio-visual material to the special video night on the XXXII International Reunion of SOMEMMA 2010, must:
- Send an abstract in 300 words or less, that includes the title, author(s) and institution(s), as well as a brief description of the theme and content of the material. You must send this before February 28th to the following address: emorteo@gmail.com
The submitted material must have the following characteristics:

Show images of any theme related to marine mammals
- Duration of 10 min or less
- Be delivered on CD, DVD, or USB memory stick (no virus please)
- The video format must be MPG, WMA, DVD or any other that can be played by Windows Media Player (Windows XP) (with no special plugins).
- All materials will be property of SOMEMMA, and may be reproduced freely with no legal issues.
- Author’s names will be mentioned whenever possible.
- Proof of participation will be issued by SOMEMMA
Materials must be delivered to Eduardo Morteo by May 3rd (Monday ) at 20:00 h, or it won’t be projected.
CLOSING DINNER
On Wednesday May 5th at the Transport Museum. There will be music and dance, as well as a fotographic expo and the display of part of the Osteological Collection of Marine Mammals from the Universidad Veracruzana.

Publication of the academic program: april 13th 2010

Those who have an accepted work, will be able to signup with the early inscription fee until april 9th.
